Improve Curb Appeal

Your home’s curb appeal can have a significant effect on the sale of your property. A large percentage of purchasers will drive past a home before calling the agent, so it is essential to make sure your property is looking as good as possible from the curb. There are some simple enhancements you can make to beautify your home, and all at a minimal cost.

General cleaning of the house. Use a broom to remove all cobwebs, and try to sweep off any excess dust from the surface of the house. Then, use a soft bristle brush with some soapy water to wash down the walls. Depending on how much dirt has accumulated over the years, it may be worth considering using a pressure washer. Finish it all off by cleaning all windows inside & out, and your house should be sparkling!

Clean the roof & guttering. The roof is quite often forgotten about, as we don’t tend to look at it very frequently. Cleaning the gutters is quite a simple job, however with the roof we recommend using a professional. This will minimise the chance of injury and the risk of damaging your roof.

Tidy the yard. A house with an untidy yard gives the impression that it hasn’t been well cared for, which is not what you want potential purchasers to think. Make sure your lawn is mowed and edged, and use seed to try and regrow any patches. Trim back all overgrown bushes & shrubs, pull up any weeds, and top up your garden beds with fresh mulch or bark chips.

Renovate your letterbox. For such a minor cost, a nice letterbox can make such a big difference. Shop around in your local hardware stores and nurseries, and if you can’t find anything that you love, look online at Pinterest for some great DIY ideas.

Enhance your front door. When potential purchasers are looking at your home, they imagine themselves walking through your front door. If your front door is looking a bit tired it might be time to give it a coat of paint, or take some measurements and have a look around for a replacement. To finish the look, consider a nice wall-mounted outdoor light with a couple of lovely pot plants.
